nwgeogirl > May 17th, 2007 - Sund Rock entry. We had a minus 3 tide today. It was a looong walk down to the water! Visibility was good until you hit about 25 feet, then down past 60 was this extremely thick layer of plankton. Once descended below 60 feet or so, viz opened up again, but it was pitch black down there.
nwgeogirl > May 17th, 2007 - Most of the Northern Ronquils we saw were displaying their breeding colors/patterns.
nwgeogirl > May 17th, 2007 - The invasive tunicate, Ciona savignyi, was very scarce. We did find about 15 specimens and collected about half of them. Some were too far under rocks or in cracks, to be able to grab.
nwgeogirl > May 17th, 2007 - A very small California Sea Cucumber.
nwgeogirl > May 17th, 2007 - Painted Greenling were all over on Sund Rock today.
nwgeogirl > May 17th, 2007 - Padded Sculpin?
nwgeogirl > May 17th, 2007 - I found a number of juvenile Black Rockfish swimming about. I would guess they were about 12 cm in size.
nwgeogirl > May 17th, 2007 - Nudibranch eggs.
nwgeogirl > May 17th, 2007 - Plumose anemone. Many we saw showed signs of stress. Most were fine though.
