Deception Pass! : What a great day for diving! The currents were perfect for an hour-long dive in a very unforgiving location. Currents rip through Deception Pass making it undiveable for most of the year. However, the conditions were just right in late Feb 2008 to provide some slack water so we could explore one of the most beautiful dive sites in Washington. Many thanks to Pete for making this dive possible and for providing the boat!

San Juans Bottomfish Recovery Zone Project 2007 : Eric Eisenhardt leads a team of divers to study the effectiveness of the San Juan Voluntary Marine Reserves. Marine Life on Pilings in Puget Sound : Abundant marine life can be found at some very popular dive sites on pilings. Titlow Beach Marine Preserve in Tacoma, Edmonds Oil Dock, Keystone State Park on Whidbey Island are but a few sites in Puget Sound that are great diver attractions. Sund Rock - Low Dissolved Oxygen : September 2006 - Hood Canal is having its annual low oxygen event, but it appears to be even worse than previous years. Many critters were stressed, many were already dead. The invasive tunicate, Ciona savignyi, has taken a firm foothold in this location now. We did two dives at Sund Rock, and here is what we found. San Juan Islands Bottomfish Recovery Project 2006 : The SeaDoc Society sponsored and organized a weeklong dive project to help monitor the Voluntary Bottomfish Recovery zones in the San Juan Islands. Marine biologist Eric Eisenhardt led the study both this year and in years past. The study covered 3 reserves: Bell Island, Long Island, and Limekiln Point. We conducted 2 dives at each site throughout the week, along with 2 dives at a nearby control site for comparison. Data was collected through transect surveys, as well as REEF surveys.

Crystal Clear 2006 : The ladies clearly do it again - this time with an Altitude dive at Clear Lake, Oregon. Georgia, Valerie, Jackie and myself. We did two dives, slightly over 30 min each, and with water temps running at 41 degrees F, we ran out of warmth LONG before running out of air.
